Midfest Egypt Short Film Festival honored actress Saba Mubarak for her distinguished career during the opening ceremony of its sixth edition in 2024. Saba Mubarak dedicates her honor at Midfest to the Palestinian people which began on Thursday and runs until September 15.

The event was attended by key figures, including Dr. Mina El-Naggar, the Festival’s Director and Founder, Dr. Khaled Ali, International Coordinator, and Catherine Banoub, Executive Director of the Forum.

Saba Mubarak Reflects on the Challenges of Acting

Saba Mubarak expressed her deep gratitude for the recognition, sharing, “An honor like this comes when you’re unsure of your path – acting is a challenging field, and we often wait months or even years to see the results of our work. This acknowledgment reassures me that I’m doing something right. I want to thank everyone who believes in me and offers me roles, and I especially want to thank my family.”

She further emphasized her desire to take on even better roles than before, acknowledging that failure is part of the process, motivating growth and pushing her toward success.

Hana Shiha Praises Saba Mubarak’s Success

In a touching moment, actress Hana Shiha surprised Saba Mubarak by taking the stage to present the award. Shiha said, “Acting is a game, and the key is to believe in your craft and love what you do. When you love it, others will believe in you, and Saba, you’ve accomplished that effortlessly.” In response, Saba Mubarak dedicated her award to the resilience of the Palestinian people.

Midfest is the first short film festival in the Middle East and North Africa, designed to raise awareness of critical health issues and explore the intersection of cinema and health. Additionally, it aims to highlight sensitive social issues to promote societal acceptance.

The sixth edition of the festival focused on the theme of “relationships,” exploring the dynamics of human connections and their portrayal through cinema. This year’s event placed special emphasis on family relationships, considered one of the most significant indicators of happiness and well-being throughout life. The festival continues from September 12 to 15, 2024.
